When you decide to start a business on the internet, you are telling the world you want to be an entrepreneur.
Whether it’s making a couple hundreds bucks each month, or a full-time income that will free you from your job … you are taking the reins of your financial success, instead of hoping (praying?!) that your employer will do it for you.
Here it is in 3 easy steps:
1) Be Willing to Take (Educated) Risks.
When you start something new, there will always be a risk involved. Try starting a traditional retail business, and you would easily expect to spend anywhere from $50,000 – $250,000 just to get started! That’s why I love the concept of starting a business online, where your investment is significantly lower, but your income potential is still incredible.
However, the important thing to look at is not the risk, but your reward in relation to that risk.
If you had a 50% chance of winning $100 and you only had to spend $1 for that chance, would you do it?
The same goes for starting an online business. If you could invest just $50/month with the potential to earn $2,000/month, is that worth it to you?
2) Invest For Success.
On the topic of investing, it’s incredibly important that you accept you must invest for success. Whether it’s your time or your money, you are always investing.
The question is whether you are going to invest your money into a cheeseburger and fries, or an autopilot business? Will you invest your time reading and building a business, or watching the latest episode of The Kardashians? :p
Those small, everyday decisions are what separates the average from the exceptional.
3) Recognize That You Have A Lot To Learn… ALWAYS.
This is a two-fold step.
First, if you are content with what you have now, then stay the same. But if you are seeking to make long strides in your life, recognize that you must accept that you have a lot to learn.
Second, because you have a lot to learn, be hard on yourself but don’t beat yourself up! It’s easy to be hard yourself, but don’t let negative thoughts consume you. Because you are learning, you will make mistakes. But mistakes are simply an opportunity for you to learn if you are paying attention. And that experience will help bring you closer to your goals.
Daymond John, the founder of clothing company Fubu and one of the Stars of Shark Tank, stated in Inc. Magazine that Jay Abraham (a renowned marketing expert) “makes me feel dumb, which is impressive.”
Daymond’s quote is powerful, because it illustrates that he recognizes he still has a lot to learn, by admitting me feels dumb around Jay Abraham. But he also manages to keep those feelings positive, noting it’s an impressive and thus rare feat to make him feel that way.
Is there more to being an entrepreneur? Definitely.
However it’s vital that you keep the bigger picture in mind, and these 3 simple steps will keep you on the right path if you are willing to accept them.
What have you learned during your internet marketing adventures?

Have you ever wondered how people manage to get boatloads of referrals and commissions almost at will?
In some programs I have downlines of 500-1000+ people. I can easily send 50-100 referrals to just about any program. In fact, you can even find me on the public leaderboards at sites like ViralHosts and TezakTrafficPower (User ID = thebestgenius at TTP) as proof. This isn’t to brag, but rather I’m just stating a fact. I want you to know that this isn’t an accident.
Here’s the beginner’s step-by-step formula:
1. Only promote quality programs that will help your subscribers.
It starts off slow, but when you only promote the best, your customers will truly begin to respect and value your opinion. That means your message gets priority, you get the most sign ups, and more commissions.
2. Promote, Promote, Promote.
Never stop growing or advertising. Be a regular presence in the marketplace. When people see you day after day, month after month, they will begin to take notice and wonder how you’re doing it.
3. Create your brand – an identity. Personally, I like to be myself. 🙂
This really doesn’t take as much effort as it seems. You don’t have to get detailed early on if you’re not sure what to do. But make your personality felt. Customize affiliate tools with your own “voice” (writing style), put up a picture, maybe even do a video. Let people know you’re out there and who you are. You’ll connect with some people, even if you think otherwise. It just flat out works … like magic! :p
While there are certainly more advanced techniques, you would be shocked out how effective these three simple steps can be in the early stages of building a consistent income. I can tell you that some of my early work was laughably bad by my standards today, but they still worked incredibly well thanks to these principles.
Have you tried or are doing this already? Please let us know your experiences, questions, comments!

Recently I was notified of a nice review of List Recon, reviewed by Karen Karo on her blog.
Click here to see Karen’s review
There are several powerful lessons I’d like to point out about Karen’s efforts and how these types of tactics can easily help you.
* Karen uses one of my youtube videos to provide content for her viewers (which is perfectly ok since I allow sharing of my videos). Her readers benefit by discovering valuable content thanks to Karen.
* She uses and customizes some of the List Recon affiliate tools to create a unique, thoughtful review
* She did something to stand out from the crowd by creating something that will benefit ME, and found a way to let me know about her efforts. That lead to be looking at her blog, reading some of her content, making some suggestions I think might help her, and telling you about her. Now I’m aware of who she is and will take notice when I see her name on anything!
* And of course she’s providing quality content to her readers and building a subscriber list 😉
With just a bit of extra effort, Karen has turned some cut and paste content to help her dramatically increase her ability to produce sales and build more credibility.
How will you stand out?

Did you know I’m naturally a bit of a hermit? I’ve never really liked a lot of a attention. I don’t particularly like to talk. Being a somewhat public figure is a weird thought to me. I’m a negative thinker by nature, worried about the worst that can happen. I’m not very creative.
It was as if I was destined to fail.
Yet somehow I make my living as someone who makes himself the center of attention. I tell you what I think. I make myself a public person. I take risks rather than hide. And my creativity is what helps pay the bills and built me a 35k+ subscriber list.
I have not changed myself, I’ve improved myself.
Your past failures are not an indication of your future. And the skills you lack are not an indication of the abilities you will possess. You are not changing who you are, but rather improving – evolving. Now step out and become the person you are capable of being.
- Where do you want to be in life?
- Are you willing to work to get there?
- Decide what you need to do to obtain what you want
- Do it
- Make a mistake? Learn from it, re-evaluate, and keep pushing.
Are you ready to make the change?
